Short Mat Bowling

Short Mat bowls is played inside the Clubhouse in Lushington Drive on 2 short mats between October and April. All short mat sessions are charged at £1.50 each, to cover clubhouse costs. Greys are worn for league and friendly matches, but for roll-ups, there is no formal dress standard required.

Competitions

5 short mat club competitions are run each year. Entries are required for the draw to be made in (usually) mid November.

Members registered with the ESMBA may also enter Surrey competitions.

Practice Sessions (Roll-ups)

The club has 5 roll-up sessions each week. These are: All members and potential members are welcome. Teams are drawn from a hat and is dependent on the number of people turning up. New or potential members are placed in positions in a team where their level of expertise can be developed.

League

The club enters 2 teams (Cobham Blue and Cobham Yellow) in the SHAB League (derived from Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire). To play in either of these teams, members must be registered with the ESMBA. Cobham Blue currently plays in Division 2 and Cobham Yellow in Division 3. Teams are picked for maximum strength.

A team is entered in the Monday Evening Lightwater League, which is played at Wey Valley Indoor Bowls Club. Players must be ESMBA registered.

The club also enters a team in the Chertsey Short Mat Evening Bowling League, played from October to March on either Tuesday or Thursday evening. All 22 matches are played at Chertsey. There is no need for registration to play in this league.

Friendlies

Friendlies are arranged for various dates throughout the season, and details are posted within the clubhouse. Any member can put their name down to play, but preference will be given to those not playing league matches, though it is often dependent on the skill requirements needed from those available.
